Meet Dr Warren van Zyl

I am passionate about chiropractic and have through my studies and over the course of my career developed a very deep understanding of the human body, in particular the musculoskeletal system and how it functions.  As my career has progressed, I have developed a further intertest in mind / body practices and techniques and have undertaken further studying and training to expand my offering to include Acupuncture and Stress Relief techniques.

I was very fortunate to start my career combining my passion for chiropractic with my passion for rugby when I worked as the chiropractor to the touring Springbok Team of the UK, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in 1994, shortly after graduating from Life University in America with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree.

I opened my own private practice in Durban, South Africa in 1995 and practiced there until 2022 when I relocated to Plettenberg Bay. I have a practice in both Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.

In tandem with having my own private practice, I have over the course of my career been fortunate to continue my passion for working with sports teams and worked with the Sharks Rugby Team and the Proteas and Dolphins cricket teams. I was the chiropractor for the Sharks Rugby Team for 15 years and in 2010 I was appointed as the Mental Conditioning Coach for the Sharks Rugby Team.

I have written and published two books. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, swimming in the sea, walking on the beach and spending time with my family.

My Approach

I adopt a patient centred and family friendly approach to my care and treat patients of all ages from newborn infants to seniors, understanding the unique needs of each stage of life.

I offer the option of either a Chiropractic adjustment or Acupuncture as individual treatments, or they can be combined in the same treatment. Acupuncture enhances the benefits of your chiropractic care by encouraging the body to realign. It works with chiropractic treatments by relaxing your muscles and improving energy and blood flow. This allows the body to remain in alignment longer and enjoy the comfort created by your chiropractic treatments.

Chiropractic and acupuncture both work on the central nervous system but through very different methodologies.  While acupuncture seeks to instigate chemical responses, chiropractic seeks to realign the body.  Using the two together has tremendous benefits for patients and I have seen exceptional results.
